construe: ~을 해석하다,

 to understand (an action, event, remark, etc.) in a particular way

: to understand the meaning of (a word, phrase, or sentence)


  1. The way the court construes various words has changed over time.
  2. <the role of the justices of the Supreme Court in construing the constitution>
concoct: 

1. (특히 음식이나 음료를 이것저것 섞어) 만들다

The soup was concocted from up to a dozen different kinds of fish.예문 발음듣기

그 수프는 최고 열두 가지나 되는 여러 종류의 생선들을 섞어 만든 것이었다.

2.(이야기・변명 등을) 지어내다

She concocted some elaborate story to explain her absence.예문 발음듣기

: to make (a food or drink) by mixing different things together

: to invent or develop (a plan, story, etc.) especially in order to trick or deceive someone




untenable:(격식) 이론・입장 등이 방어[옹호]될 수 없는(지못미 같은 느낌)


not capable of being defended against attack or criticism : not tenable



incipient:  (격식) 막 시작된

 beginning to develop or exist.

  1. The project is still in its incipient stages.
  2. <I have an incipient dislike and distrust of that guy, and I only met him this morning.>
