emblem: (국가・단체를 나타내는) 상징, (전형적인 표본이 되는) 상징

: an object or picture used to suggest a thing that cannot be shown

: a person or thing that represents an idea

avow:  공언하다,

: to declare or state (something) in an open and public way

ominous:  불길한

There were ominous dark clouds gathering overhead.
