What was it like when you were in school?

---------------------------------------------

I experienced a little bit playground bullying at school.

He used to rough-handle[rough me up] , maybe give me a punch in the gut or something.

to hit and kick someone, usually to frighten or threaten them

==> rough up

---------------------------------------------

I was kind of the oddball ethnically because I lived in a really homogeneous area, so I was the one Asian.

It worked to my benefits at the same time, because I was different, so people wanted to be my friend

--------------------------------------------

I was the kind of person to stick up for those who were being bullied.

------------------------------------------

They pick up on[notice] the minutest details. If something is different, then they pick on that.

--------------------------------------------

Not doing so well at school, they need to stand out in other ways and try to gain popularity because nobody wants to be friends with the underdog.

can't stand injustices: 불의를 참지 못 하다.

------------------------------------------

Have you ever seen the number of cases of cyber bullying increasing on the news these days?

It's much easier because no one is going to know who did it. They can't put a face to it.

to remember the name of someone who you recognize

I’m sure I know him, but I can’t put a name to the face.

--------------------------------------------

You maybe start out just playfully teasing someone, then others join in, and when it's on a social network site or something like that, it can get out of control and snowball really quickly.

---------------------------------------------

You've gotta hold people accountable so that they don't do it again in the future.

Do you believe in life after death,Karma, Reincarnation?

tingle: shiver, creep

My fingers and toes are tingling with the cold.[손가락이랑 발가락이 취위 때문에 얼얼했다.]There's a line in that poem that makes my spine tingle every time I read it.[ 그 시를 읽을 때마다 나의 온 몸[척추]를 흠칫하게 하는 행이 있다.]
She tingled with fear as she entered the dark alleyway.[

I have had sort of a tingling.

You had an impersonal experience with a ghost?

impersonal: indifferent, supernatural

-------------------------------------------

I could sort of sense something in the room. I don't like the dark.

-------------------------------------------

 someone, especially a child, who is easily frightened:Come on, scaredy-cat - it won't bite you!

I was such a scaredy pants[scaredy-cat].I was not very good with scary stories but I stayed and listened to it.

be good with = deal with well.

--------------------------------------------

And, suddenly, things started getting a little weird. Once again ,just a sensation.

--------------------------------------------

He seems to be good with faces and names.

I had a strong impulse to shout and run

He had an impulse to get out of there.

막걸리 => rice wine.

---------------------------------------------

a crystal ball  => 수정 구슬

Have you ever been to one of the fortune tellers on the street?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think more so here than other places, especially for deciding if your mate is correct. Or choosing the names for your babies.

---------------------------------------------

That’s important. I think in general, a lot of females go to these fortune tellers.

Yeah. I don’t think men really care that much about it.

They get dragged along by their girlfriends.

----------------------------------------------------------------

It’s fun, sometimes, when the reading turns out to be really positive.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

<Korean fortune tellers get your name, birth date etc..

to interpret them and tell you your fortune.>

Exactly, and your name as well. Like you said, the time is

really important. A lot of mothers or future mothers-in-

law go and secretly get this done *behind their son’s

backs. I found that funny.

---------------------------------------------------------------

fortune teller => palm reader, spiritualist, psychic

reading => review, interpretation.

---------------------------------------------------------------

We dragged Tina into a fortune teller.

Last weekend, I was on a drag-along with my friend to a

club.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I was flirting with a girl, and she wanted to read my palm.

I held out my hand and then she started tracing the lines on my hand.

She started telling me things about my future like, “Oh you have such a long life line!”

I have a bad feeling about today.

I have a strange feeling about this room.

I am not a very superstitious person.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

But the first thing I saw as I walked out of the house was a black cat. That got to me.

If you walk under a ladder, you'll have bad luck.

[That's an American thing.]

---------------------------------------------

It's just a bunch of religious, superstitious mumbo-jumbo.

You are not supposed to whistle at night in Korea because it will bring out snakes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have seaweed soup just before an exam, it’ll make you slip and fail. And if you have something chewy like toffee or taffy, it’ll help you pass the exam.

  엿

----------------------------------------------------------------

I think I’ve heard of… dreaming of a dragon or a tiger, (that) you’ll have a baby boy. But that’s not always the case. What about pig dreams?

---------------------------------------------

mumbo-jumbo => meaningless, nonsense.

---------------------------------------------

For some reason, we all had a good feeling about the project.

---------------------------------------------

get to => affect negatively

His voice really gets to me.

Her whining really got to me.

---------------------------------------------

Pouring alcohol to elders with two hands is a Korean thing. [

Guys will never understand because it’s a girl thing.

---------------------------------------------

I think superstition is a way of controlling people's behavior more than based on reality.

People used to say that cats were the familiars of witches so a black cat crossing your path was considered bad luck

the familiars of witches => 마녀를 연상시키는 것.

Hey what's your (zodiac, star) sign? You know, that was the biggest pick-up line of the 1970s?

You got me worried for a second.

(She thought that that was really a pick-up line.)

What sort of personality trait do they have usually?

left-brained / right-brained

==> refer to people who mainly use one side of their brain.

-------------------------------------------

All of my signs are meant to be bold, ferocious,brave.. extroverted

Are you those things?

--------------------------------------------

I am meant to be, a party-goer, out-there personality type of person, Are you (a) blood type O?

--------------------------------------------

Do you find much interest in reading your horoscope?

I just read it for fun.

-------------------------------------------

It's interesting to see the love compatibility and what to watch out for in the day. But it's just for fun.

love compatibility: 궁합, 사랑 운세

sexual compatibility: 속궁합

what to watch out for in the day: 그 날 조심해야 할 것.

charismatic: appealing, alluring, magnetic,

ferocious: cruel, fierce, relentless

out-there : eccentric, (돌아이 느낌..)

adj. 1. crazy; mentally deranged; scatter-brained, loony.
2. so extremely individualistic so as to appear mentally unstable.
3. Not conforming to mores, accepted norms, or standards.

I tried to reason with Chris, but he's out there.

compatibility: harmony in relationship.

---------------------------------------------

He has the devil in his heart.

She has the devil in her angel eyes.

Guess what blood type I am.

There's a funny anecdote.

He hands out horoscopes to everyone.

He says, "Each of these horoscopes is specified to you."

Do you think people can communicate with their minds?

I was letting my mind communicate with yours.

Do you believe in telepathy?

my friends were twins. They used to communicate without even talking to each other

non-verbal communication

It was so surreal

They were in different locations, and they happened to think the same thing.

--------------------------------------------

It's supposedly something you've experienced before that you are re-experiencing. But I think it's more just a trick of the mind.

I've heard perceptions like smells or sounds trigger these memories.

I feel like I have been here before.

--------------------------------------------

subtle = delicate, mysterious, slight

surreal = dreamlike.

impend = approach

--------------------------------------------

We communicated with our eyes.

We always think the same things. That's why we are best friends.

When I was a kid, I had a dream about walking into a room, seeing a very specific light fixture, a certain color on the wall, certain furniture arranged in the room and playing a game with a friend of mine, a very specific game I had never played before.

A week later I went to my friend's house.

There was the light fixture, there was the color wall, there was the same furniture, there was the same game we played
