Titanic is a 1997 American epic romantic disaster 

film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited 

by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of 

the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo 

DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social 

classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-

fated maiden voyage.

[타이타닉은 1997년 미국에서 나온 대서사 로맨틱 재난 영

화다. James Cameron이 연출, 극본, 공동 제작, 공동 편집

이 영화에서 맡았다.  침몰한 RMS Titanic의 이야기를 각색

(허구)한 영화이고 Leonardo DiCaprio 와 Kate Winslet이 주

연으로 나온다. 이 둘은 사회적인 계급은 다르다. 불운한 운

명이 첫 출항을 하는 타이타닉에서 사랑에 빠지게 된다.]

Titanic was the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark. 

It remained the highest-grossing film of all time until 

Cameron's 2009 film Avatar surpassed it in 2010. 

A 3D version of Titanic, released on April 4, 2012 to 

commemorate the centennial of the sinking, earned it an 

additional $343.6 million worldwide, pushing the film's 

worldwide total to $2.18 billion. It became the second 

film to gross more than $2 billion worldwide (after Avatar).

기를 맞이하여 3D 버전의 타이타닉이 2012년 4월 4일에 개

어 들인 돈을 $2.18 billion 까지 끌어 올렸다. 타이타닉은 아

바타 다음으로 20억 달러를 벌어들인 두 번째 영화다.)

In 1996, treasure hunter Brock Lovett and his team 

aboard the research vessel Akademik Mstislav 

Keldysh search the wreck of RMS Titanic for a necklace 

with a rare diamond, the Heart of the Ocean. They 

recover a safe containing a drawing of a young woman 

wearing only the necklace dated April 14, 1912, the day 

the ship struck the iceberg.^{[Note 1]}Rose Dawson Calvert, 

the woman in the drawing, is brought aboard Keldysh 

and tells Lovett of her experiences aboard Titanic.

사선 Akademik Mstislav Keldysh '을 타고 Heart of the 

Ocean(해양의 심장)' 이라고 불리우는 희귀한 다이아몬드가 

있는 목걸이를 찾기위해 난파된 RMS 타이타닉을 수색한다. 

그들은 금고 하나를 찾아 내는데 거기에서 기록된 목에 목

걸이만 걸고 있는 젊은 여자가 그려진 그림을 발견한다. 그

림이 그려진 날짜는 1912년 4월 14일이었다. 이 날은 배가 

빙산에 부딪힌 날이다. 그 그림의 주인공인 Rose Dawson을

보물 탐사 팀이 Keldysh을 데리고 온다. 그녀는Lovevett에

게 Titanic을 타면서 그녀가 경험한 내용들을 말해준다.]

distraught: 집을 잃거나, 부모가 자식을 잃었을 때 느끼는 

감정을 이 단어로 표현하는 것 같네요. 

Distraught over the engagement, Rose considers suicide 

by jumping from the stern; Jack Dawson, a penniless 

artist, convinces her not to. Discovered with Jack, Rose 

tells a concerned Cal that she was peering over the edge 

and Jack saved her from falling. When Cal becomes 

indifferent, she suggests to him that Jack deserves a 

reward. He invites Jack to dine with them in first class the 

following night. Jack and Rose develop a tentative 

friendship, though Cal and Ruth are wary of him. 

[ 억지로 하는 약혼에 괴로워한 나머지, Rose 배의 선미에서

서 자살을 하려고 한다. 땡전 한 푼 없는 아티스트 Jack이 

Rose가 자살하려는 것을 보고 하지 말라고 그녀를 설득한다. Rose는 걱정하는 Cal(Rose의 약혼자) 에게 배의 끝부

분에서 내다보고 있었는 데 Jack이 떨어질뻔한 자기 자신

을 구해줬다고 이야기한다. Cal이 시큰둥하자, Rose 그에

게 Jack에게 보상을 해야 한다고 이야기한다. 그래서 Cal

은 Jack을 다음 날 밤에 있는 1등석 저녁 식사 자리에 초

대한다. Jack과 Rose 잠정적으로는 친구 사이가 되지만 Cal

과 Ruth(Rose의 엄마는) 이를 경계한다(못 마땅해 했다).
